Grecos Holiday is a Polish travel agency that focuses on organising holidays throughout Greece. Grecos is one of the leaders among tour operators operating on the Polish market (rated AA by Rzeczpospolita). In the course of its several years of operation, the travel agency has served over a million satisfied clients. Its offer consists of nearly 250 carefully selected hotels.
2. Challenge
We were given the task of creating and implementing a mechanism for calculating and dynamically updating tour prices in accordance with the sales policy adopted by the travel agency. The customer expected a solution allowing for flexible pricing of tours. The requirement was to analyse the Excel files in which the prices had been calculated so far, develop an appropriate algorithm and implement it to the new system. The price formulation was to be based on the parameters indicated by the travel agency. The system was to include the reading of component parameters to be calculated from external systems, an interface to edit specific parameters, price calculations and transferring them to the system distributing offers to agents cooperating with the travel agency.
3. Solution
The works completed under the project consisted in the analysis, configuration and tests, as well as the implementation and post-implementation assistance. As a result, we have created and implemented a dedicated mechanism for calculating the travel agency’s prices. The functionality of the system includes integration with the databases of contracts made with owners of hotels, airlines and suppliers of other services, which have an impact on the final price of the holiday offers, as well as on the price selling system through which the prices are uploaded to the travel agency’s website. The pricing presented to customers is updated online. The pricing is based, among other things, on the current prices of the travel agency’s partners, as well as on other parameters, e.g. sales promotions. Any changes in the pricing parameters can be introduced automatically or an employee can introduce them manually at any time. Such changes are made immediately available to all the partners of the travel agency, as well as on its website.
4. Result
The Grecos Holiday travel agency has been using our pricing system for several years. The system has improved and automated the operation of the agency and has optimized the process for calculating and updating prices. The services offered by the agency, along with their prices which are updated online, reach the agency’s customers, in particular, via the tour operator’s website.
